SALT LAKE CITY — A small mountain cat who escaped at a Salt Lake Metropolis zoo has been recaptured after two days on the lam.
Zoo officers say they used mice to lure the younger Pallas’ cat named Mushu right into a reside lure late Monday.
Hogle Zoo spokeswoman Erica Hansen says in an announcement that Mushu was holed up in a small building space close to his enclosure, a perfect hiding spot for the elusive creature.
The Pallas’ cat is smaller than the typical housecat and never harmful. Mushu will probably be examined by vets earlier than he’s returned to his exhibit.
The Sunday-morning disappearance marked the second time in as a few years feline on the zoo escaped by means of a gap in mesh topping an enclosure. A uncommon leopard squeezed out of a distinct exhibit in June 2016.
