President Trump tweeted Saturday morning that the contentious Home Intelligence Committee memo detailing allegations of abuse in opposition to the FBI and Justice Division proves he’s harmless of colluding with Russia in the course of the 2016 election.
“This memo completely vindicates ‘Trump’ in probe. However Russian Witch Hunt goes on and on,” he wrote. “Their was no Collusion and there was no Obstruction (the phrase now used as a result of, after one 12 months of trying endlessly and discovering NOTHING, collusion is lifeless.) That is an American shame!”
The four-page memo, launched Friday regardless of protests from the Justice Division and FBI, was drawn up by Rep. Devin Nunes, the chairman of the Home Intelligence Committee and a former member of the Trump transition workforce. It accuses prime Justice Division officers of improperly utilizing data from an unverified file — compiled by former British spy Christopher Steele — to acquire surveillance warrants for former Trump adviser, Carter Web page.
Trump’s Saturday tweet echoes his earlier feedback suggesting the memo proves the Justice Division’s investigation into Russian colluding within the 2016 election, helmed by particular counsel Robert Mueller, is tainted with political bias.
“I believe it’s a shame,” Trump stated Friday. “Lots of people must be ashamed of themselves.”
Democrats on the Home Committee in the meantime slammed the President’s choice to launch the GOP-penned memo, claiming it accommodates delicate and confidential data with little to no context.
